14/12/2011 - Government of India, Ministry of External Affairs (Consular Division)’s advisory on visas for surrogacy arrangements:
Any foreign national applying for a visa to India intending to enter into a surrogacy arrangement must ascertain beforehand whether the law of his/her country permits surrogacy and whether appropriate travel documents to the child for accompanying the surrogate parents will be provided by the country/mission concerned.
Entering into surrogacy arrangements under any other visa not sought for surrogacy is punishable under the Indian Law.

14/12/2011 - Official information from the Embassy of India regarding Satphones:
“The use/operation of any Telegraphic services/devices, including wireless is regulated by the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885. Anyone using any telegraphic devices, including Satphone unauthorisedly, violates Section 4 of Indian Telegraph Act, 1885, and can be penalised under section 20 and 21 of the said Act.
Any foreigner intending to bring satellite phone into India would have to obtain prior license/permission of Department of Telecommunications and in case of import of a satellite phone as a cargo, a declaration is to be given by the person importing the goods about details of goods. Satellites phones brought in baggage/hand baggage without licence would be detained/confiscated till such time the holder is able to produce a license issued by the Department of Telecommunications.”

07/11/2011 to 11/11/2011 – Offices closed during the second week of November
Please note that the Indian Embassy and the India Visa Application Centres will be closed for three days during the second week of November: Monday 7th November 2011 (Idu’l Zuha Festival), Thursday 10th November 2011 (Guru Nanak’s Birthday) and Friday 11th November 2011 (Armistice). Please be aware that the days in between these holidays (Tuesday 8th November 2011 and Wednesday 9th November 2011), and the beginning of the third week of November are expected to be very busy and the waiting time in the room are likely to be much higher than usual. We would therefore recommend that you anticipate your visit to our offices and submit your application during the first week of November.

procedure
A new visa procedure will be launched on Monday 3rd October 2011 and
would be obligatory from this date. The implementation of this new visa

20/09/2011 – New Visa
Procedure
The Government of India has decided to implement a new visa procedure
throughout its Diplomatic Missions during 2011. The objective of this programme
is to standardise the visa application procedure in different countries. This
procedure has already been successfully launched in the UK, Netherlands and
Australia amongst others.
The Embassy of India, Paris has informed us that this procedure will commence
on Monday 3rd October 2011 and would be obligatory from this date. We will
publish a more detailed notice next week however please find some essential
points below:

Your photos should meet the specifications established
by the Indian Government and any photo not meeting these norms will be refused
without exception. Note that our Paris and Marseille offices are equipped with
photo booths meeting the Indian Government specifications. |

The new online visa application form will be mandatory (handwritten
and old forms will not be accepted). |

The new online visa application form will only be available in English. Our
services will provide a French translation on our website. |

Once filled in, the application form must be signed by the applicant only. This
signature will be scanned and conserved by the consular services. The form
cannot be signed by an agency or any other representative. |

10/09/2011 – Important changes regarding
Transit Visas
The Embassy of India has informed us that Transit Visas would now be
granted for a maximum validity of 15 days. Please be aware that this
legislation is retroactive and applicants currently holding a Transit Visa with
a validity greater than 15 days, and attempting to cross immigration more than
15 days after the date of issue of their visa would only be granted entry in
India at the discretion of the immigration authorities. Considering the risk of
a refusal of entry on Indian territory, we strongly advise such applicants to
submit a new visa application before their departure. For more information,

06/06/2011 – Fees update
From Monday 6th June 2011, the Service Charge (VF Services
(UK) Limited service charge for the handling of your application) will be
reduced to 12 € ; the Urgent Service (same day service) will be charged 53 €
only (43 € of this amount is collected on behalf of the Embassy of India).

04/02/2011 – Tourist Visa on arrival for certain nationalities
The Embassy of India has informed that a Tourist Visa on arrival valid for 30
days and for 1 entry will be possible for nationals of the following countries:
Finland, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam,
Philippines, Burma and Indonesia. Such a visa would be granted for tourist
purposes only.

17/01/2011 – Justification required for urgent procedure
From Monday 17th January 2011 onwards, the urgent procedure has been modified
by the Indian Embassy: this service will only be available for travellers
having already purchased their plane tickets. The photocopy of a return plane
ticket in the name of the applicant and showing a travel date within 7 working
days would have to be submitted in order to qualify for the urgent procedure.
Please note that the presentation of a plane ticket in no way guarantees the
issuance of a visa. The decision to grant a visa or not remains solely at the
discretion of the Embassy of India.

01/12/2010 – ICWF Fee
Please note there will be an additional 3 € fee per passport on all visa
applications from Wednesday 1 December 2010 onwards. This is the Indian
Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) fee collected by the Indian Government.
