PROCESSING TIMES
It is strongly advised that applicants do not make any travel arrangements before obtaining an Indian visa. The Embassy of India and VF Services (UK) Limited cannot, in any circumstances, be held responsible for any applications which are not completed in time for your intended date of departure. Kindly note that obtaining a visa is not automatic; your visa application may be accepted, modified or refused by the Embassy of India in its full right.

Applications processed individually
Each visa application is processed individually by the Embassy of India: as a result processing times may vary between applications that appear to be similar. It is particularly frequent for families and groups who have submitted their applications simultaneously to receive their visas with a few days gap.

Minimum processing times
The company VF Services (UK) Limited has no influence over the processing times of a visa application: these depend essentially on the Embassy of India and to a lesser extent on the postal services. We are therefore not in a position to guarantee maximum processing times. We are only able to communicate minimum processing times, provided for information purposes only.

The urgent procedure
The urgent procedure is reserved for those applicants who have already booked their plane tickets prior to submitting their visa application and who have an immediate departure. The photocopy of a return plane ticket in the name of the applicant and showing a departure within the next 7 working days would have to be submitted in order to qualify for the urgent procedure.

Please note that the presentation of a plane ticket in no way guarantees the issuance of a visa before the expected departure. The decision to grant a visa, or not, remains solely at the discretion of the Embassy of India.

The urgent procedure
The urgent application procedure is only possible for the holders of a French passport applying at the urgent counter of the India Visa Application Centre in Paris (timings and conditions to consult on the page In Paris). An application submitted in the morning as part of the urgent applications procedure will be returned from the Embassy of India on the same evening. You will also be required to pay the additional fees of the « Urgent service ».

Please note that the urgent application procedure is not possible if:
You hold a foreign passport
You hold a travel document
You hold a French passport but are of Pakistani, Chinese, Bangladeshi or Afghan origin
You are applying for an Employment visa, a Journalist visa or a Research visa

Please note that to qualify for the urgent procedure, you must be in a position to justify the emergency of your travel by providing a copy of a confirmed return ticket to India in your name with a departure within 7 working days. The copy of this plane ticket must be included in your application file.

Please note: The exact time of return of the passports is at the discretion of the Indian Embassy.

In spite of having paid for the urgent service, the Embassy of India reserves the right to withhold any application submitted in the urgent procedure for an in-depth examination.

Certain visa categories go through a closer examination requiring a few additional days to process. It is quite frequent for the examination of Employment Visa or Research Visa applications to require a few weeks when submitted over the counter in the Paris office.

The Embassy of India reserves the right to withhold any application submitted for an in-depth examination: your application may in such cases be referred to the Indian government and we would not be in a position to advise on the processing times.

Your visa application is reviewed directly by the Indian Government and not by the Embassy of India in Paris. The response of the Indian Government is compulsory for the visa to be granted. In some special cases, processing can take several months.

Your travel arrangements should always be made after you have obtained your visa. Furthermore, your travel dates will have to be organised according to the validity of the visa granted to you. You must never purchase your travel ticket or plan your travel before obtaining a visa.
