Return of Passports

Collection at the India Visa Application Centres

Applicants who have applied at the Paris or Marseille centres will need to produce the following in order to collect their passports:

1. Original receipt issued at the application centre at the time of submission.
2. Data page of the passport with the VFS stamp

Important Note: If applicants wish to assign a second person to collect the passport on their behalf, the authorized person needs to produce:

  1. Original receipt issued at the application centre at the time of submission
  2. Data page of the passport with the VFS stamp
  3. Letter of authorization from the principal applicant.
  4. Photocopy of the ID card of the authorized person.

Passport Collection:

PARIS 1200 - 1700 hrs (Monday - Friday)
FROM MARSEILLE 1500 - 1700 hrs (Monday - Friday)

Note: It is suggested to the check status of the application only after the processing time stated in the documentation list has elapsed.

Return by post

All applicants based in Lyon, Paris and Marseille who have sent their applications through Post or applicants who have dropped their completed applications at our ACP's at either Lille, Nice, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Strasbourg should include along, with your online completed application form, Passport and supporting documents, a Chronopost envelope, one for each applicant (Les Prêt- à-Expédier - Chronopass 13 enveloppe 500g) in addition to the Visa Fees and Service Charges for your processed application to be returned.

If an applicant is unable to send the above mentioned Chronopost envelope, the India Visa Application Centre can arrange for the same at a nominal charge of 18€ per passport (This is an optional service). The applicant is requested to pay the charges for the same along with the Visa Fees and Service Charges.

After the passports have been returned by the Embassy of India, Paris the same would be posted back to the applicant through the chronopost envelope that was enclosed at the time of submitting their application.

Processing times

Applicants applying in Paris would receive their passports approximately 1- 2 working days after submission.

Applicants applying in Marseille would receive their passports approximately 6 working days after submission.

Applicants applying in Lyon, Lille, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Nice and Strasbourg would receive their passports approximately 6-7 working days after submission.

Applicants of Sri Lankan, Chinese and Pakistani origin/descent, who are now French Passport holders, are also considered as Referral applicants and these applications may take a minimum of a week to Three months for a response.
